A few months back I stumbled across your Salon archives. I enjoyed your archived columns so much I read about 85% of them within a few days.
The quality of the writing was superb ( rare these days ). The columns were intelligent. They were also provocative without being sleazy, immature, or contrived. In addition to being interesting and fun they were also thought provoking.
thanks Steve! Funny you should say that because I’ve been hassling Salon to put up the whole archive, 60 or so articles going back to 1998, rather than just the last 13 ones that this link now leads to.
So far, for naught.

I actually got to read those early columns.
I looked up one your articles through google, went to it directly, and found original links to your older articles on that article. Those links had nothing to do with your archive links.
Salon is missing out. Almost all of those older columns are fantastic and those that are not fantastic are excellent.
Apart from realizing how much of an excellent writer you are, I also realized how much more of an interesting city New York is.
