Whoo-ee, now there’s a gauntlet thrown down, Karen! I salute Belle du Nuit for doing it her way.

Personally, I’d rather shop for meaningless sex in bricks and mortar than online. I just never know if I want to moil and toil with someone til I’m physically in their presence. Though I do see the appeal of “ordering in”….

Okay, I want to challenge Karen for title of Nerviest. The most fun I’ve had online dating in the last few years is on four or five occasions when I met a stranger and had sex with him within half an hour…three times with men in a hotel room, theirs or mine, and once in the apartment a man shared with his (absent) girlfriend. It was much odder and more perverse than picking someone up in a bar, because we met knowing that we shared the same kink and would sleep together regardless of whether we had “chemistry.” Two of these episodes turned into relationships, one just sex, the other loving and serious. I’d always envied gay men’s pick-ups, and online meeting made it possible for me to “order in,” too. I know it’s a pathetic, sordid substitute for a real relationship, but it was better than never getting laid the way I wanted…
